Our Story

Lacie and Ben met in September, 2002 - another success story for the online dating sites. That's right, we met when Lacie ran a search on a website for everything she wanted in a guy and Ben's name popped up. After a few weeks of email conversation, we decided to meet in person and ended up talking for several hours over coffee. We quickly fell for each other and started dating seriously after only a few weeks. Here we are at the National Zoo on our fourth date.

In December, we spent the first night of Hannukah with Lacie's family, and then we went to North Carolina for Christmas with Ben's family. After returning from the holidays, we flew to the Dominican Republic for the wedding of Ben's friends Kerri and Craig (mmm, Caribbean in January). We spent a whole week together enjoying the beautiful weather. This picture was taken at their wedding ceremony.

In March, we took a trip to New York to visit several of Lacie's friends. Here we are in front of Rockefeller Center. It was around this time that we decided we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with each other, so we started looking for a place to live together.

We found a little house to rent in Falls Church, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC that is located about halfway between Ben's workplace and Lacie's workplace. We moved in together at the beginning of June and couldn't have been happier. This picture was taken on our first day in the new house.
Ben ordered a ring at the end of the summer and started pondering how best to propose. On October 5th, Lacie and Ben spent the day together in DC. While walking in the Conservatory of the US Botanic Gardens, Ben got down on one knee (deviously pretending to look at a flower) and pulled out the ring. Lacie accepted (whew!), and the wedding planning's been going full steam ever since.
